Dr. Dre Wins Legal Divorce Battle as Judge Rules That He Doesn’t Have to Pay $6.5M to his Estranged Wife, Nicole

Music mogul Dr. Dre will not have to pay his estranged wife Nicole Young $6.5 million in expenses related to their divorce, a Los Angeles judge ruled on Thursday.

Nicole, 50, had requested that Dr. Dre, 55, pay a whopping $5 million for lawyers’ fees and $1.5million for incidental expenses such as security as her legal team said she’s been threatened amid the split, TMZ says.

The judge, however, dismissed her request noting that she had previously fired the security detail hired for her by the rapper. TMZ reported that Nicole’s legal team argued that she wanted to hire her team because Dr. Dre was only using the security detail to control her.

Young’s request was rejected to have a January hearing — regarding the $5million for attorney’s fees — moved up to this year. The judge said the case did not appear critical since there was no report of domestic violence, and that if she felt her life was in danger, she should file a restraining order from the music mogul.

Dre’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, said the rapper is still willing to pay for all of Young’s expenses surrounding the divorce, including a security detail.

Earlier this week, Dre rejected Nicole’s request that he pays $2milliom in monthly spousal support expenses, saying, ‘This all seems like the wrath of an angry person being exacerbated by opportunistic lawyers”

Dre and Nicole got married in 1996. They share two children: Son Truice Young, 23, and daughter Truly Young, 19. Nicole filed for divorce in June after 24 years of marriage.
