Gale Sayers, the legend of the Chicago Bears, died at 77 after a long battle with dementia, announced by the Pro Football Hall Of Fame on Wednesday.

He played only 68 games in his career because of different injuries, and according to TMZ, he is also considered one of the “greatest running backs of all-time.”

He made five times for the All-Pro team along with this in the year 1977; he was selected for the Hall Of Fame on the First Ballot.

He is the youngest player to be inducted ever.

CEO David Baker and HOF President said on Wednesday after the sad news, added, “The entire Pro Football Hall of Fame family mourns the passing of Gale.”

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Ardie, and their entire family. We will forever keep his legacy alive to serve as inspiration for future generations. The Hall of Fame flag will fly at half-staff until he is laid to rest.”

Several years ago, Gale was diagnosed with dementia. After this, his condition was deficient, Ardie and his wife mentioned that Gale was busy struggling to speak and move last year.
