Actor Pierce Brosnan, popularly known for his role as James Bond in four of the movies, has officially put his 12,500 square-foot Malibu mansion up for sale for $100 million. This enormous price tag makes this Asian-inspired, oceanfront house the eighth most-expensive home for sale in Los Angeles County.
The southeast Asian inspiration for this house, which is called The Orchid house, comes from Brosnan’s time spent shooting 1997 Bond film “Tomorrow Never Dies” in Bangkok and Thailand. The house was built after his fourth Bond movie in 2002, “Die Another Day”. The movie was a hit and left Brosnan with a huge paycheck. So he told his wife, “Go build your dream house.” And she did.
The house features wide-plank teak floors and a tiled roof made of green clay inspired by temples the couple admired in Thailand. The home’s carved teak entry gates come from Thailand as well.
The residence has a guest house a well and in total, has nine bedrooms and 14 bathrooms. The master suite alone spans 4,000 square feet and has two fireplaces, an art studio and a deck with a beautiful ocean view.
Brosnan and his wife, filmmaker and journalist Keely Shaye Brosnan, are selling their dream home because they now spend most of their time in Hawaii, where Keely grew up and where they have a house on Kauai’s North Shore.
